The big reveal:)

Are you ready? Finally ready? Well were not totally finished here, but what the heck. This past week we had a home appraisal & a birthday party so this is as presentable as it gets.
First on the home tour list, our kitchen. Keep in mind this is not our dream kitchen, but on a very tiny, tiny budget this is the best we can do.
Please forgive the picture quality
it was a cloudy winter day in a dark room:(

We are still waiting on the glass inserts in two of our cabinets so the other angle photo will be at a later date.

Now someday we would like to update the appliances, and when we hit the lottery granite would be awesome.
But for now our faux granite (laminate) will do.

I believe some of the best kitchens are done on a dime.
I think you get the most bang for your buck when you start thinking out of the box.
Some of my favorite things in this room are the faux stone arch (they were painted white when we moved in) and the faux would beams (white sheet rock). It always amazes me that they are both the first things people comment on.
When trying to achieve a homey look for less don't forget to search antique shops, garage sales and Craigslist. The hanging scale and wood crate were both antique shop finds years ago.

We also found a new 800.00 cooktop on Craiglist a while back for 200.

Now for my dream list:)

What color would you choose?

County Living

And someday I hope to stumble upon a pedestal table for free:)
Hey, a girl can dream!

And as long as I'm deep in dream land, these would look adorable at my counter.

What color though...red, white, black, or metal?

Thanks for stopping by,
what room would you like to see next?

Bathroom Inspiration

Home ownership brings along many projects. It always amazes me when you move into a home that you think is perfect, to find out you change everything about it.

We have made many changes in our home & next on the demand list is the upstairs bathroom. It is one ugly room with a blue tub, blue tiled walls and flowered wall paper. Not the cute kind but the acid trip 70's style. So soon enough we will embark on a new venture.

A small sampling of it's hideousness.

In the meantime I will share with you my inspiration.
Simple fabric project can turn a plain white shower curtain into the main element in a bathroom.

How vertical & horizontal stripes can work together.

Love how a simple white sink can spruce up a laminate counter top.

Bringing in small splashes of pink can add a feminine touch with out being over the top.

In smaller bathrooms don't be afraid to splurge a little on the flooring.

There is no set rule that says you have to buy a standard vanity from a big box store. Make your statement piece out of an old antique dresser.

Think out of the box.

For about $70, you can change a plain white sink into something a little more custom looking.

For about 135.00 you can grab this fun faucet.

Fun splashes of blue for a beachy look & Board and Batten planked walls for texture.

Add personal touches like a chandelier or flowers.

You don't have to limit yourself to cupboards & towel racks.

Adding chair rails can break up bold colors and give visual interest to boring walls.

Don't be afraid to make fun lighting choices. Outdoor lighting in a splash of red.

Or in galvanized metal for $35 at barnlightelectric

Make it fun for the kids & give them a number.

Search salvage yards for unique pieces.

Vintage finds are so Divine with a splash of blue:)

Hope you are feeling inspired today:)
